Reel Kingdom has deviated somewhat from their usual style with this release, as Cash Elevator is a mix of photorealistic elements, hollywood actor lookalikes and steampunk visuals. The piccolo on the splash screen looks like a young Rob Love, while the gothic femme fatale is a dead ringer for Angelina Jolie. Everything is set in a spooky old hotel, and the bellboy is not really the handsome lad he seems to be.

The high volatility, combined with the elevator feature, ensures plenty of ups and downs in this game, and you’ll basically move from floor to floor like a yo-yo. The 13th floor triggers the Hold & Spin feature, and both Hollywood star lookalikes are active as walking wild lovers in the bonus round. Ascending the stories of the haunted hotel removes low value symbols, and fans of The Shining will probably feel right at home.

The Cash Elevator feature is always doing its thing, and the Hotel comes with 14 different floors including the basement level. You start out on the 1st floor, where all pay symbols included in the paytable can land.

As you move up to the 2nd floor and higher, the lowest value symbols are removed one by one per floor. Floor 12 is the highest you can go in the base game, and here you play with only the top paying hotel/logo symbol and the second highest value moon/cat symbol.

You move up one floor whenever you land a winning combo with the lowest value symbol present on that level. You can also land special arrow symbols on reel 3, and this will move you up or down 1 to 3 floors, depending on which way the arrow is pointing.

Review Summary

While we do like the elevator concept Reel Kingdom has come up with in Cash Elevator, the execution could have been better. We don’t quite get the undead love story either. Why does the Rob Love lookalike bellboy turn into a zombie in the bonus round, and why does the Angelina Jolie lookalike goth girl keep being attracted to him after that? So many questions, so few answers.

It’s a good thing she is though, as you’ll need plenty of extra spins to come close to the announced 20,000x potential. The highest possible single spin payout is only 1,000x your stake, and the Streak Respins feature doesn’t seem like something that can make a massive dent. We like that developers experiment and explore different avenues, but this one needs a bit of an overhaul to avoid being a dead end.
