This is a follow-up to the more traditional fishing slot original, 4 Fantastic Fish, and it comes with a similar set of features. The visuals are incongruent to say the least, and it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. If you can handle it, however, 4 Fantastic Fish in Egypt is a pretty solid fishing slot overall.

We mentioned that the features are similar, but enough new stuff has been added to merit a second game. For example, you can now win cash fish prizes up to 10,000x via both a collector scatter and via the regular line win system. In addition, you get more modifiers in the bonus round, and 4 in total to be precise, but the lower 11,100x potential is somewhat of a drawback. Still, 4 Fantastic Fish in Egypt is well worth a closer look for fishing slot enthusiasts in general, and for fans of the original game.

The premium symbols, consisting of tackle boxes, reels, cats, birds, and a Cleopatra lookalike angler, pay between 3 and 10 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. The Boat Wild symbols step in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve wins, and it holds no value of its own.

Fish Symbols come with cash prizes between 0.1 and 50 x your stake, and their values are determined by which reel they appear on. Either way, you need to land cash fish on paylines in order to collect the involved prizes, and the rightmost reel can land you Big Game Fish prizes with values of 100x, 500x, 2,000x, or 10,000x your stake.

The Giant Squid feature triggers when you land the giant squid symbol, and it rearranges the fish symbols to either create or improve your win. This is true for the base game at least, as the giant squid will move fish symbols from locked to active reels in the bonus round.

The Respin Bonus Round triggers from 3 or more scatters in view, and only the reels with triggering scatters are active as the feature starts. The other reels are locked, and fish symbols landing on active reels become sticky. You start with 3 respins, and the tally resets each time you land a new sticky fish symbol.

You need the respin scatter to land on locked reels to make the reel active, and the respin scatter is not sticky like the fish symbols. Filling an active reel with fish prize symbols triggers a shark that swims over the reel to collect all the prizes for you. This makes room for more fish to land, and the sum total of the shark collected prizes are boosted by an x2 multiplier.

The Sarcophagus Scatter can appear both in the base game and in the bonus round, and it triggers 1 of 4 modifiers when it lands during the feature:

• The Giant Squid - drags fish symbols from locked to active reels.
• The Shark - boosts all fish prizes on an active reel while collecting them at the top of the reel.
• Collect Icon - absorbs a prize value that’s equal to the sum total of all prizes in view.
• Incrementer Icon - adds its own value to all fish prizes in view.

Land the Sarcophagus Scatter in the base game, and it will collect all cash prizes in sight. This means that the cash fish don’t need to land on paylines in order to generate a win, and it thus gives you a second way of collecting cash prizes in the base game.

The Bonus and Feature Buy menu is available in some jurisdictions, but not in the UK for sure. If eligible, you can purchase the Sarcophagus Scatter together with at least 1 cash fish for 30x your stake. You can also purchase the Respin Bonus for 120x your stake.

Combining the popular fishing slot genre with the equally popular ancient Egypt theme may seem like a good idea on paper (or during a late after party), but in practice it didn’t quite work for us. Incongruence is a well-known tactic to get attention in many industries, not least in the entertainment business, but there has to be a point to it. 4 Fantastic Fish in Egypt makes little sense thematically, but if you enjoyed the original game, and you can stomach this strange mix, you will most likely also enjoy this follow-up release.

It’s very similar to 4 Fantastic Fish though, and some will say it’s too similar, but the base game collect scatter is a welcome addition. You also get a few extra modifiers in the bonus round, but the 11,100x potential is lower than the 15,000x you get in the first game. The game is “very volatile” as well, which can take a toll on your bankroll, and overall we prefer the original game to be honest. 4ThePlayers is very open about the stats of their games, which we like, and after 100 spins 1 in 1,000 players will get away with 2,283x their stake on average.
