Most online slots centered around bees and beehives tend to take an anthropomorphic approach to the theme, with cartoonish and personified bees that look cute and cuddly. Pragmatic Play has toned all that down, and Sticky Bees is instead a straight to business installment with a powerful wild activation system that is both highly engaging and potentially lucrative. The fruit symbols seem a bit misplaced and generic for a game like this, but that’s “pragmatic” for you.

You win by landing 5 to 20+ matching symbols in a horizontal or vertical cluster anywhere on the 7x7 sized grid, and 5 of a kind wins pay 0.25 to 5 x your stake. In the upper end of the paytable, landing 20+ symbols cluster wins award between 12.5 and 125 x your stake. You can land regular wild symbols anywhere as well, and they step in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve wins.

Winning symbols are removed via the Tumble feature, and this means that new and/or existing symbols drop down to fill the gaps. If at least one new winning cluster is generated from the tumble, the process repeats. This goes on indefinitely for as long as your winning streak lasts.

Review Summary

We actually like that Pragmatic Play hasn’t gone overboards with the cute cartoon personification of the bees, like is usually the case in these kinds of games. They have avoided the whole beehive grid formation as well, and instead channeled their creativity into a set of highly entertaining and potentially deadly effective features. The visual presentation is still solid though, don’t get us wrong, but you could nitpick and say that it’s a tad too generic and “Pragmaticish”.

This does not take away from the fact that Sticky Bees is a highly engaging slot in all stages of the game, and the tumble wins and cluster pays system goes well together with marked positions wild feature. The spreading effect can lead to lengthy tumbles, and the final 3 spins or so in the bonus round can really liven up your day. It all depends on where the activated marked positions sit, but you can get solid back to back wild-infused wins to the tune of 10,000x your stake on a good day.
