This is not the first time we meet ELK’s quirky troll family, but it’s the most memorable experience thus far. ELK is, quite literally, going to town with the cliches this overused theme usually displays, and the troll kids seem to enjoy the artifacts in their own special way. You get 3 different troll modifiers in all stages of the game at random times, and they hit more often in the expanding symbols bonus round. Up to 3 symbols can expand from the get-go, and up to 5 is possible. The 10,000x potential is twice the average for the ‘book of’ genre, but the top-tier 94 % RTP is sadly a deal-breaker for many players.

The Book symbol is both wild and scatter, and as a wild it steps in for pay symbols to help complete wins. They still get to use Egyptian imagery and artifacts, albeit in a playful way (like the Ankh cross slingshot). You’re basically whisked away into a magic world of excitement from the get-go, and the Electric Treat feature keeps you guessing during base game play.

Getting up to 3 expanding symbols from the start in the bonus round is an interesting twist as well, but you will get only 1 from 3 scatters most of the time. The multiplier can help out either way, and the electric treat modifier seemed to trigger more frequently during the feature. It all adds up to a highly enjoyable and unusual book slot experience, and it’s definitely refreshing compared to yet another dusty Egyptian tomb.
