The premium gemstone symbols pay between 0.6 and 5 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and you also have Wild symbols that step in for pay symbols to help complete wins. The wilds appear only on the top horizontal reel though, unless they are generated by modifiers. If one of the triggering scatters is a diamond Megascatter, you get the Enhanced Bonus round. Megascatters appear on reel 6 only, while regular gold scatters can land on reels 1 to 5 in the base game.

You get a pick and click game before the bonus round plays out, and this awards 2 or 3 modifiers for the feature (3 for the enhanced round only). Here’s an overview of the modifiers you can get:

• Double Multiplier - increments the win multiplier by +2 per reaction win.

Review Summary

The inventor of the Megaways engine knows how to make a solid dynamic reels game, there’s no question about that. However, we don’t get why Big Time Gaming keeps insisting on the glossy gemstone symbols in so many cases, and especially in a game like this. Why not include the secret agent and the villain as symbols, and throw in a shaken-not-stirred Martini and some weapons as well. Generic gemstones gets the job done, but it’s hardly as engaging as it could have been.

That being said, Max Megaways is a rock solid release when it comes to the features and the overall math model. The reactions and the modifiers keep the base game interesting, as you keep wondering when you’ll get to see the inside of the villain’s mountain headquarters. Each bonus round plays out differently due to the different modifier combo, and the 139,200x potential lands this game in the top max win spot for Megaways releases.
