PG Soft is certainly not holding back in their second Infinity Reels effort, as Jack Frost's Winter comes with a record breaking potential. Time will tell if anyone ever comes remotely close to a 100,000x payout however, as it will require a very lengthy and nerve-racking thrillride down Reel-Adding Multiplier Avenue.

It would seem more realistic if you were able to accelerate with up to +4 multiplier values per added reel, like in the debut game, but this is not possible here. Instead, special symbols can boost the multiplier and spin tally, but they don’t seem to land all that often. Anyway, besides the insane potential, Jack Frost's Winter doesn’t really add anything new or innovative to the series.

You start out with 3 reels and 4 rows, which is pretty common in this genre, and you need to land winning combos including the rightmost reel to trigger the Infinity Reels mechanic. This adds a new reel on the right-hand side, and this process keeps going as long as you improve upon your winning combination.

Landing a free spins symbol on the rightmost reel will also add a new reel to the grid, and all wilds that land will expand to cover the full reel. You cannot land wilds on the first reel however, and every new reel added to the grid increases the progressive multiplier with +1.

When you’re no longer able to add extra reels to the grid, your winnings are summed up and boosted by the achieved multiplier. Everything will then reset back to the default setup, to start all over again.

You need to land 3 free spins scatters anywhere in sight to trigger the bonus round. This gives you 10 free spins to start with, while any new scatters that land adds 2 extra spins to your tally. You can also land special Heart symbols to add +1 free spins to your tally, while the special Star symbol increases the progressive multiplier by +1.

Of course, each added reel also increases the multiplier with +1, and it does not reset on non-winning spins during the bonus round. If there was no progressive multiplier in play, you would need to add up to 20,000 reels with the highest paying Jack Frost symbol to land the 100,000x max win. Of course, the potentially accelerating multiplier complicates the calculation, but you’re probably looking at several hundred reels, or more.

Jack Frost's Winter is PG Soft’s second venture with ReelPlay’s Infinity Reels engine, the first one being Secrets of Cleopatra Infinity Reels. The two games are quite different from each other, not least since Jack Frost here offers insane payouts up to 100,000x your stake (which is 10x the potential of the debut game). That alone should raise some eyebrows, and it certainly makes this one a tempting winter adventure.

The bonus round is less complicated here, as you will not be playing with 4 tiers of multiplier increments like in the first game. Instead, you have special symbols to help keep you going with +1 extra spins and +1 multiplier boosts. It’s hard to see how you can get anywhere close to the staggering max win without hitting a rather extreme reel-adding lucky streak, but that’s what PG Soft claims on their website at least.
