We had a feeling we would see more of the innovative Wild Pattern modifier that Pragmatic Play introduced in Eye of Cleopatra, but perhaps not so soon. Our sense is that this Norse mythology installment is more volatile, with both a higher base game and bonus round potential.

You will thus not see the Wild Pattern modifier as often as in the previous installment, which makes the base game somewhat more tedious and monotonous. The excellent audiovisuals and solid turbo spin pace helps in that regard though, and the bonus round triggers more frequently in this viking-themed follow-up release. North Guardians might be seen as the masculine counterpart to Pragmatic Play’s recent Eye of Cleopatra, as the Wild Pattern feature takes center stage in both installments. The base game is more of a grind in this Norse mythology release however, as you get fewer wild pattern triggers that, unless you climb a few levels, will many times not make much of an impact. Larger payouts are theoretically possible though, and a full screen of wilds pay 750x your stake compared to 200x in the Eye of Cleopatra.

We like the Wild Pattern Wheel in this game more than we did the somewhat strange-looking Wild Pattern device in the predecessor, and things do heat up significantly if you manage to reach level 4 or 5. This is more likely to happen in the bonus round, of course, and it’s kind of fun when these random wild patterns are created per free spin. The 5,000x potential has been taken up a notch too, but the max win probability of 1 in 1 billion is astronomically worse than the solid 1 in 238,095 probability you get in Eye of Cleopatra.
