Red Tiger has once again partnered up with the R7 crew, and the result this time is a flaming retro-style fruit slot with a 7x7 cluster pays grid. They call it a “toasty twist on the classic fruit slot”, but the old-school visual appeal is accompanied by an equally old-school math model. To be fair, the adjustable RTP ranges is a somewhat new phenomena, but classic slots tend to come with a lower-than-average potential.

This is most definitely the case in Blazing Clusters too, as 1,201x your stake is the most you can hope for in total from the bonus round. The overall symbol values are mediocre to low, so all the Wild Rush triggers you get in the base game will never really do serious damage. If you’re up for a somewhat unusual take on the classic gaming experience you might wanna give this one a whirl or two, but it’s clearly not for the high/risk reward crowd.

You win by landing 5 to 30+ matching symbols in a cluster anywhere on the 7x7 grid, and a maxed out cluster pays between 2 and 50 x your stake depending on which symbols are involved. All winning symbols are removed via the Chain Reactions feature, and new and/or existing symbols will then drop down to fill the gaps. This can lead to indefinite consecutive wins per spin, as the feature continues as long as you keep winning.

You will see the Wild Rush feature on a regular basis, and it triggers at random times. Regular sized 1x1 Wilds, or 2x2 and/or 3x3 Super Wilds, will then rain down on the grid, but not all of them will necessarily stick. Regular 1x1 wilds can land organically as well, and all wilds step in for regular pay symbols to help complete winning combinations.

The Bonus Round is triggered when you land 3+ scatters anywhere in view in the same Chain Reaction sequence, and this awards 8 free spins. You get +2 extra spins per extra scatter on top of the minimum of 3. More frequent Wild Rush triggers are to be expected during the bonus round, and you’ll also benefit from a Blazing Multiplier feature.

The Blazing Multiplier increases at random times, when multipliers rain down over the grid, and the summed up value is then added to the global Blazing Multiplier. It can go as high as x20 at the most, and the Blazing Multiplier applies to all wins in the bonus round. Finally, you get +1 extra spin per scatter you land during the free spins round.

We didn’t manage to increase the Blazing Multiplier from the x1 starting value, which was a bit unfortunate, but we still got away with a decent total win. Review Summary

We get what Red Tiger has been trying to do with this retro fruit slot installment, but Blazing Clusters still fails to make a lasting impression. It’s kind of fun when the wilds rain down on a regular basis, at least in the beginning, but after a while you realize it seldom leads to anything significant in terms of payouts. How could it, after all, when the top-tier flaming 7 symbol pays only 50x your stake for 30+ in a cluster.

It would require a totally unrealistic amount of consecutive Chain Reaction wins to close in on the measly 1,201x potential, so you’re stuck with top-up wins without a proper bonus round multiplier. The feature may well play out without a multiplier increase at all, like it did for us, but the win cap is hardly impressive anyway. It’s far from the most boring fruit slot we’ve tried though, but it would have been more attractive with an up-to-speed math model.
