The Mountain King Wild steps in for all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combos, and he’s also the highest paying symbol in the game together with the Queen. Landing 5 wilds on a payline awards 20x your stake, while regular premiums pay between 6 and 20 x your stake for the same.

During regular spins, if a single Mountain King Wild is part of a 4-oak or 5-oak win, and no other wilds are in view, the payout may be boosted by a random wild multiplier of x5, x8, x64 or x512. This can lead to large base game single spin payouts all the way up to the 10,000x win cap.

You trigger the Mountain King Respins feature when 3 wilds land on reels 2, 3 and 4, and each wild starts with an x1 multiplier. The wilds become sticky as the respin plays out, and if new wilds appear on reels 1 to 5 they too become sticky. Gem symbols may land to overlay regular symbols, and these get collected in a meter above the reels.

Every third gem you collect triggers the next multiplier on the trail, and the values go from x2 to x3, x5 and x8. It’s hard to understand what SG Digital partner, NextGen, has been thinking with this follow-up, as Reign Of The Mountain King has been watered down in every possible way compared to the somewhat successful Rise of the Mountain King. Audiovisually, the difference isn’t all that noticeable, but the 96 % RTP is notably reduced. While the 10,000x potential is solid enough for sure, it’s still only 1/5 of the win cap you get in the first release.

The highest wild multiplier you can hope for from a single wild win is x8 in this game, while they go as high as x100 in Rise. Wilds also come with x5 multipliers by default in the bonus round of Rise, so we hardly see a single reason players would want to play Reign instead of the far superior Rise. Not that Rise was all that either by the way, and you get a somewhat dated visual style and awkward game pace in both installments.
