Malcolm Mizzi, Commercial Director of Nolimit City

Hi Malcolm, we’re glad to have you and Nolimit City as a guest of SlotCatalogs game provider interview series! Could you please give the readers a quick introduction of Nolimit City?

Sure! Headquartered in Malta, being founded in early 2014, Nolimit City is a young and vibrant studio with ambitions to stand out of the crowd and work closer than ever with operators.

Proudly stating our own RGS platform and working on some interesting promotional tools, Nolimit City has clearly made an impact and has risen to the occasion.

We do it because we love it! There is no other reason than the passion for the industry and the joy of creating games, other than wanting to create a successful business at the same time.

Could you tell us about the history behind Nolimit City and how you yourself came to join the company?

Nolimit City was born out of the frustration of working with the larger more archaic well-known suppliers out there, our founders wanted to treat this project as if they were on the receiving end when dealing with games providers. Which in fact they were not too long ago, co-founders, Emil Svärd and Jonas Tegman have had a long history of working together, having founded a couple of companies and also been part of the propelled growth of operator brand ComeOn!

The two wanted to build their games portfolio has always dreamt of the concept 10 years back when they worked together at NetEnt. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, they are leading the tech subsidiary where Nolimit’s unique style product is conceived thanks to our game experts that come from various backgrounds within the industry.

I myself joined Nolimit in August 2017 as the Head of Sales and Account Management following over two years working for NYX Gaming Group as a Commercial Account Manager. The experience there exposed me to an array of premium suppliers within the network and helped me hone my commercial acumen thanks to managing several tier1 accounts.

Obviously, Nolimit City is in a rapidly growing state. What are your plans for success?

We’re still in our infancy and have yet to grow further before we can claim any status, however, we are sure of one thing, that is our brand name stands out within the sea of many. Although our portfolio isn’t that big, our games have made a name for themselves and constantly receive praise for our unique and different approach.

We pride ourselves on being a progressive and inclusive business that treat employees with compassion and dignity, ensuring that everyone enjoys the job whilst also living life to the fullest.

What’s the vision going forward?

We do it because we love it! There is no other reason than the passion for the industry and the joy of creating games, other than wanting to create a successful business at the same time. The vision is to keep refining our product and delivery quality whilst ramping up the product. Something we have affected in 2019 which is to deliver far more games than in previous years. This year will see us produce over 14 premium titles thanks to the investment of key people in Stockholm and the new opening of our new tech subsidiary office in Gurugram, India.

With employees in Malta, Stockholm and India you surely understand that company culture is a big thing at Nolimit. We pride ourselves on being a progressive and inclusive business that treat employees with compassion and dignity, ensuring that everyone enjoys the job whilst also living life to the fullest.

Definitely! Let’s leave the business side and get into the games themselves! Which is your favourite production and why?

My personal favourite production of ours remains Casino Win Spin, which is a humble nod to the classic video slot style with some crazy bold graphics and fast-paced gameplay. It’s a bit of an underdog game, but we have seen several players embrace the simplicity of the game which has been awesome.

Not forgetting our hit title, Tombstone, which was released early May 2019 and has been a real talking point in forums and gambling communities around the world. Having reached the historical ranking record of Top7 games in Sweden on SlotCatalog, I’d say it was received well by operators and players alike. A crazy volatile game with huge potential and exciting western atmosphere, Tombstone defined our production quality and unique math thanks to our XNudge feature, also found in our other big release, Hot Nudge!

Each and every game of ours is built from the ground up and no game looks, feels or plays like the other!

With so many slot games being released each week, why should players play your titles?

The variety of games selection offered is one of our best selling points, not mention immersive graphics, great in-house sound design and solid math. Each and every game of ours is built from the ground up and no game looks, feels or plays like the other (with the exclusion of the Kitchen Drama series).

That’s a valid point, I’m sure our readers will give any possible missed titles a go after this interview. Enough about past and present, let’s dive into the future. What are your expectations for the iGaming industry going forward, are there any technologies or features you want to put extra focus on?

The demand for game production has increased dramatically over the years. Not only have iconic studios ramped up their roadmap of game development but we are now seeing an unprecedented amount of new suppliers enter the field. With Megaways standing its ground, we are now seeing the evolution of this style of the game engine with suppliers either opting to take on the brand IP or re-invent their interpretation of a multi ways game.

Innovation is key but let’s not forget that classic games are still stronger than ever before and aren’t going anywhere. Strong maths remains the key to a player’s heart, with the likes of Gamomat, Merkur and others still dominating the scene.

The regulation will remain something of investment across the industry. Clearly the .COM market is no longer what it used to be and regularization of key markets is on everyone’s agenda and projection for growth.

Alright! This interview is coming to an end. Would you like to say anything to our readers before we wrap this up?

We keep business simple and honest, which is the mantra we believe in strongly when it comes to how we want to be perceived. So much more to come in terms of challenging ideas but yet respecting players view on the traditional slot games they love. Nolimit City has still much to achieve and more player to win over but we’re determined to build a revolutionary portfolio of games.
