Despite having released only 10 slots until now, Infinity Dragon Studios has already touched base with plenty of different genres. Fortune Dragon is their very first full-blown Asian slot, and the dragon seen on the left plays an active part in all stages of the game. The audiovisual presentation is somewhat archaic, but this may be intentional to create a retro look and feel that some may find charming.

The main attraction is the Link&Win feature, not least since you can win 5,000x your stake by filling the grid completely. It will many times trigger at least once during the free spins round, as the feature comes with an increased hit rate of the Roaming Phoenix Wild feature. This is a feature that leaves behind wilds or link&win symbols, and the 12,500x potential is pretty solid for a medium volatile installment.

The premium symbols pay between 2.5 and 7.5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the Wild symbol pays 10x your stake for the same. The wild also steps in for pay symbols to help complete wins, and it appears on reels 2 to 5 only. The scatter symbol pays 1x, 5x, or 20x your stake for 2, 3, or 4 in view, respectively.

The Roaming Phoenix Wild feature triggers when you land both a wild symbol and a Link&Win symbol in view. If the triggering symbols are on the same row, the bird leaves behind a wild or link&win symbol per position for that row.

It does the same for the same row as the link&win symbol appears if it’s one row apart from the wild. If they are 2 rows apart, however, the bird leaves behind a link&win or wild symbol on the row between the triggering symbols.

You need at least 3 Link&Win symbols in view to trigger the Link&Win Bonus, and the triggering symbols turn into sticky cash prize symbols. You start with 3 respins, and only cash symbols, jackpot symbols, and blanks will land during the feature.

The respins tally resets for each new sticky symbol you land. The regular cash prizes vary from 1x to 5x, and the Mini, Minor, and Major jackpots pay 10x, 25x, or 500x your stake, respectively. Fill the screen to win the 5,000x Grand Jackpot.

Review Summary

In one way the visual presentation came across as amateurish, but it can also be seen as a retro video-game style attempt. There is a certain charm to that perspective, if you choose to go with it, but the Asian theme is pretty standard stuff overall. We don’t think this will be Infinity Dragon Studios' big break, at least not in the west, but Fortune Dragon may be a smash hit in Asia for all we know.

The Roaming Phoenix Wild feature was more complicated to explain than it actually is when it plays out. Basically, it will help you trigger the Link&Win feature on occasions, or add wilds for a hopefully decent win. The Link&Win feature triggered several times during the same free spins round when we tested this game, and the feature thus went on for quite a while. The 12,500x potential is solid for a medium volatile installment, but this release cannot escape the swamp of mediocrity nonetheless.
