Clearly, this developer must have skipped their norse mythology class (or forgot how to google stuff). To claim that Mjölnir is Odin’s hammer doesn’t fly well with viking enthusiasts, and neither does the weird, glossy visual presentation of this game. Is this about the dreamy unicorn fantasy of a teenager or a bloodthirsty viking god? Excuse us for asking, but we much prefer the similar Dynamite Mine Explosion to this.

The Bonus Ways feature fits better with the mining theme also, and the game has twice the potential of Odin’s Wild Hunt with the same medium to high volatility. The RTP of 96.56 % is a tad higher here, but not enough to make any difference. Our impression is that this is a hasty production designed to cash in on whatever hype their little innovation can stir up in the community.

The wild symbol can land on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 only, and will step in for all regular symbols. The Exploding Wins feature plays out like regular cascading wins. Winning symbols explode, and this makes room for new winning symbols to drop from above. However, scatter symbols do not explode, and this means that you can accumulate them via this feature.

The highest paying symbol is Odin with his helmet of gold. Above the reels you’ll see the 4 other premium symbols on display. Every exploding win transforms one premium symbol to the Odin symbol, starting with the higher value horse, then follows the wolf, the raven and the owl.

It takes only one hammer exploding on a reel to transform it. However, you can land more than one hammer on a reel, and each hammer will give the relevant reel 1 to 3 extra symbols up to 8 in total. This means that you can get a reel expansion up to 6x8, and this increases the number of winning ways to 262,144.

If you’re going to make a game about a legendary viking god like Odin, why make it look like a glossy postcard from some 80s teenager's diary? We’re looking at you High Flyer Games. How does Odin fit in this fairytale land? A unicorn perhaps, but not a bloodthirsty berserker with one eye. And why the “wild hunt” title, when wilds don’t play any significant part in the game? So many questions, so few answers.

With that off of our chest, Odin's Wild Hunt does offer a decent enough potential of 6,149x, and a somewhat innovative Bonus Ways feature. It’s the Hammer you really want here, but it doesn’t do all that much in the base game, usually. In the bonus round it can wreak some havoc, and expand the reels in a significant way. However, it can take a while to trigger the free spins, and the base game gets old pretty quick.
