The first thing you need to decide before you start playing is whether or not you want to play with the Super Stake feature active. This will effectively double your stake, but you will also trigger a special and exclusive feature on a regular basis.

The Super Stake feature in The Legend of Hercules is all about symbol upgrades. You will get a random number of upgrades each time. The lowest value symbol on the screen will be upgraded first, then the next one, and so forth. This could potentially lead to all symbols being upgraded to the highest paying wild symbol.

What’s more, each upgrade increases the progressive multiplier. This multiplier can go as high as 10x. If you manage to upgrade all symbols to become wilds, and benefit from the 10x multiplier, you can look forward to a payout of 10,000x your stake. The wild symbol usually lands in stacks on all 5 reels, and it pays 33.33x your stake for 5 on a payline. Of course, it also substitutes for all regular symbols.

Also the scatter symbols land in stacks here (on reels 2, 3 and 4 only), and you therefore need as many as 7+ on the same spin to trigger the free spins bonus round. You win a small scatter win up front, and you then get 8, 15 or 30 free spins when you land 7, 8 or 9 scatters, respectively.

While the regular spins play out in daytime, the scenery shifts dramatically to nighttime in the bonus round. According to the game’s paytable, you have a better chance at landing winning combos in free spins mode. Other than that, there are no extra features or modifiers to look forward to.

Review Summary

It’s a bit hard to make sense of this game to be honest. The math model is attractive with seemingly low risk and potentially high rewards, but in practice things might play out differently. First of all, we are uncertain if the Super Stake feature is worth it here, as we mostly got lower value upgrades that yielded smaller payouts.

However, since the Super Stake feature can lead to the max win of 10,000x, it feels kind of amputated to play without it. The bonus round was a snoozefest in our test session, but you might have totally different experience with it, of course. Still, with no extra features/modifiers, the free spins feels almost like the base game grind. If you play without the Super Stake active, there is really not all that much to look forward to here.
