The line between what is “propaganda” and what is merely information is not easy to detect in many cases, and people’s world view is largely dependent on which sources of news they are exposed to every day. ELK allows you to peek into a dystopian future (or is it a parallel version of Earth, perhaps), where masked people gather around checkpoints to await what becomes of their destiny.

There is a glimmer of hope shining through the crumbling walls though, as the backdrop of freedom under the open sky looks idyllic enough. This game is all about wilds and multiplier wilds that can both combine or split to boost avalanche cluster wins, and winning symbols add to the overall multiplier. It never resets in the bonus round, and this can lead to solid payouts up to 25,000x your stake.

You win between 0.05 and 1.5 x your stake for the minimum of 5 matching symbols in a cluster, while 15+ matching symbols award 2.5 to 50 x your stake. You also get several different wilds in this game, but they all have in common that they step in for pay symbols to help improve and/or complete winning clusters.

Winning symbols are removed via the Avalanche mechanic, and new and/or existing symbols drop down to fill the gaps. In addition, a wild symbol is spawned in one of the empty positions each time. The process repeats as long as you keep winning, and the number of symbols in each cluster is added to the win multiplier seen above the grid. The multiplier will boost all future wins in the same sequence, and everything resets between paid spins.

You can also land Multiplier Wilds, and these take turns boosting cluster wins before the global win multiplier is applied. If multiplier wilds connect with more than one winning cluster, they split to be part of the involved clusters. If more than one appears in the same cluster, the wilds merge as their values are added. Regular wilds count as x1 wilds. A Wild Strike feature triggers randomly as well, turning pay symbols into wilds or multiplier wilds.

You trigger the Bonus Round when 3+ bonus scatters appear in the same avalanche sequence, and this awards 7 free drops. The big difference from the base game is that the global win multiplier never resets in the bonus round, and you can win extra drops from a flag symbol. If the Super Bonus Symbol appears, you upgrade the feature.

The Super Bonus Round can also trigger from the base game, via 2 regular bonus scatters and 1 super bonus scatter. The only difference between the features is that you get a Super Wild Strike on every Super Bonus Round spin. This means that symbols are turned into multiplier wilds on each spin.

Review Summary

We enjoyed the contrast between the bleak reality inside the walls, compared to the idyllic blue sky open field you get a glimpse of in the background. The NoLimit City influence is obvious, with releases like Remember Gulag and The Border, but Propaganda is far from a copycat effort. The masked characters give off a different and less “realistic” vibe, and it’s like you’re peeking into a parallel version of Earth, or something.

The symbols art is excellent as well, but the symbol values aren’t all that. This is the trade-off needed to give you plenty of multiplier action, and the features bounce off of each other in a highly entertaining and well-paced manner. Each spin will keep you glued to the screen in this release, and unlike with NoLimit City, it’s actually possible to understand what’s going on. Propaganda is one of the best from ELK this year, and at least you get a 95 % RTP here, instead of 94 % which they have been flirting with in recent releases.
