Hitchhiking was never really the same after serial killers became a well-known phenomena, and a certain Ed Kemper (who plays a central part in the serial killer Netflix show Mindhunter) would probably love this game. He targeted hitchhiking young ladies after all, just like Chainsaw Larry does in Kiss My Chainsaw. The horror is mostly understated in the base game, and Larry acts shy and harmless when he picks up the girls in the win story.

Ted Bundy was known for similar tactics, and he would even walk on crutches to appear helpless. This game is not as jam packed with features as you might be used to from NoLimit City, and you need to trigger the Chainsaw Larry Spins mode in the bonus round to truly get this show on the road (pun intended). This gives you Enhancers of different kinds, and they do not go easy on the symbols to put it that way. The 10,900x potential is more than solid enough, and serial killer and horror fans will probably enjoy kissing this chainsaw.

The 3 character symbols, consisting of 2 females and Chainsaw Larry as the top-tier symbol, pay between 2 and 3.5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. All winning symbols are removed via the Avalanche feature, and replaced by new and/or existing symbols dropping down from above. This process repeats for as long as your winning streak lasts.

There are 3 different Wild symbols in this game, and all 3 of them appear on reels 2 to 5 only. They all have in common that they substitute for pay symbols to help complete wins, and this is the sole function of the regular wild.

The Charged Gas Can Wild comes with a multiplier that doubles per avalanche win for as long as there is gas in the can. The amount of gas is reduced per win the wild partakes in, until it's completely empty. The Chainsaw Larry Wild appears in the bonus round only, which we will cover below.

The Burnout Feature triggers when you land exactly 2 scatters on reels 1, 3, and/or 5. This removes all symbols from the grid, including the triggering scatters, which gives you a cascade of new symbols via the avalanche feature.

You trigger The Ride Bonus Round when you land 3 scatters on different rows, while The Last Ride Bonus Round triggers from 3 scatters on the same row. The first feature comes with 8 free spins, while the top-tier feature gives you 9 free spins.

The Ride Bonus Round comes with 8 free spins, as mentioned, and the grid expands with +1 row to 5x5 in size. The Charged Wilds can grow a multiplier up to x4 before being removed in this feature, and you get +1 extra spin from 2 scatters in view. This also triggers the Burnout feature if they land on the same row. Landing 3 scatters gives you +3 extra spins, as well as the Chainsaw Larry Spins feature.

The Last Ride Bonus Round plays out pretty much the same way as The Ride feature. The only difference being a guaranteed scatter symbol on reel 5 per free spin, and the fact that you get 9 starting free spins instead of 8.

This brings us to the Chainsaw Larry Spins feature, which adds an extra Enhancer Reel to the grid. Pay symbols are enhanced as well (see paytable for details), and Chainsaw Larry leaps to new positions on reels 2 to 4 per free spin as a wild symbol when this feature is active. The win multiplier is increased by +1 each time he lands on a character symbol, and he activates the enhancer symbol for the row he appears on. These work as follows:

• Smiley - gives you +1 extra free spin.
• xSplit - doubles the multiplier between Larry and the xSplit enhancer, and each character that’s split increases its multiplier by +1.
• Lucky Feet - leaves behind a wild as Larry is moved to a new position. If he lands on a charged wild, you get the Afterburner feature. This doubles all symbol multipliers on the same row. Landing on an initial charged wild awards a symbol multiplier of x4 for all symbols, while landing on an x2 charged wild gives all symbols an x2 multiplier.

Finally, non-UK players, and anyone eligible, can take advantage of the Bonus Buy Menu. You can purchase The Ride FS round for 66x the stake (RTP of 96.34 %), or The Last Ride FS round for 155x the stake (RTP of 96.48 %). Review Summary

We like how Chainsaw Larry looks almost shy when he picks up the two girls in the win story, and it's a stark contrast to the persona that will soon enough reveal itself at the expense of the poor ladies. NoLimit City is certainly not shy when it comes to controversy, and they have obviously found inspiration in both The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Donny Darko for this game. The bloody rabbit mask worn by Chainsaw Larry when performing his nasty acts is quite an effective scare, and this game is not for the faint of heart.

The base game is less complex and feature rich than many other releases from this developer, which feels like a relief actually, but things definitely heat up when the bonus round triggers. You need to also trigger the Chainsaw Larry Spins feature to truly squeeze the juice out of this thing though, and the 10,900x potential is certainly worth the squeeze with a 1 in 9.3m hit rate. The bonus round triggers every 200 spins on average, but the shock effect is not as effective as it used to be anymore. We would love to see NoLimit City’s “light side” once in a while as well, and they can learn a lot from Hacksaw in that regard.
