This is more of a parody horror release than a serious attempt at being spooky, and you get lively animations and enjoyable visuals in all stages of the game. Horror Hotel plays out on a 6x6 grid with cluster wins, and the game is capable of dishing out 5,000x from a single cluster win. The grid is placed in a graveyard with a mysterious castle in the backdrop, and the uncanny scenery is dimly lit by the full moon.

The Wild symbol steps in for pay symbols to help complete or improve cluster wins, and non-winning symbols are removed via the Cascading mechanic. The Cascading feature plays out differently than usual in more than one way, however.

All winning symbols, including wilds, are turned into Mystery symbols. Review Summary

Relax Gaming could’ve easily released a pure reskin of their 2021 Xmas release, Santa’s Stack, but they have instead taken the time and effort to build on the original concept. In Horror Hotel you don’t need a wild included in the cluster win to trigger the mystery symbol feature, but the symbol values have taken a hit to compensate. You can still win up to 5,000x from a single cluster though, so it’s hard to complain too much about that.

You still risk getting only 5 free spins, however, and the feature can be short-lived many times. It’s prolonged by the mystery symbol respins, however, and the increasing amount of wilds will help generate cluster wins. This makes getting extra spins more lucrative than usual, and you can still win up to 20,000x your stake. Overall, Horror Hotel is a superior release, even without the adorable 8-bit pixel visuals you get in Santa’s Stack.
