Deadwood slot Big Win July 2021

Released over a year ago, Deadwood remains one of the most popular Wild West slots, and the staggering payouts tell why. This time, a Russian gambler managed to hit an unbelievable win of 235,533 RUB on 4th July, betting 20 RUB per spin.

00:15

3 Scatter symbols landed, and the player selected 8 Gunslinger spins.

00:23

The first spin delivered a Big Win of 480 RUB as an xNudning Wild appeared and applied a multiplier boost.

00:34

Then, 3 Wilds landed at a time and increased the total Multiplier to the incredible 13x, as well as awarded a 47,424 RUB prize.

01:13

Wilds kept coming, and the next spin brought 17,000 RUB.

02:01

The penultimate spin was the highlight, as 3 more Wilds appeared and produced a 27x Multiplier, thanks to which a 184,896 RUB win was achieved.

02:50

When the player ran out of spins, a total prize of 235,553 RUB was paid.

Deadwood Review

By some weird coincidence, this reviewer has just started binge watching the HBO cult-series, Deadwood, for the first time (yes, really) yesterday, and then the assignment to review this slot dumped down on our desk. Deadwood is not a branded slot from NoLimit City though, and it’s really a follow-up from their successful breakthrough title, Tombstone, which was released more or less exactly one year before this very anticipated sequel.

The visuals have been greatly improved here, down to neat details like being able to fire off a few rounds that “breaks the glass” in front of the game with a mouse click. The number of paylines have been upgraded to 576, and it all plays out on a 3-4-4-4-3 setup. This means that you’ll play with 1 extra row and plenty of extra paylines, compared to the first game in NoLimit City’s wild west inspired series.

The volatility is very high in this game too, as expected, and while there are similarities in the base game features, the 4 different free spins modes take this game to a whole new level. The RTP is a tad lower than in the first game, but 96.03 % is still around industry average. The hit frequency has been somewhat altered in favor of the base game, but don’t worry, wins up to 13,950x is possible in the bonus rounds, and this means that the potential has been significantly boosted also.

What symbols are there?

The most valuable symbols in this game are the stacked gold bars, but there is not all that much difference between the premium symbols when it comes to payouts. In fact, the range is between 1x and 3.75x for all the symbols, so nothing quite sticks out here. The symbols are still well crafted wild west items, and you need between 3 and 5 of them lined up on a payline to win. Here is the paytable for Deadwood slot:

  • Gold bars - Pays 3.75x for 5 on a payline
  • Gold watch - Pays 3x for 5 on a payline
  • Safe - Pays 2.5x for 5 on a payline
  • DW Whisky bottle - Pays 2x for 5 on a payline
  • Double barrel shotgun - Pays 1.5x for 5 on a payline
  • Royal symbols - Pay between 1.25x and 1x for 5 on a payline

What are the bonus features?

This is a feature rich game for sure, and there is just enough to keep the base game interesting, while you wait to trigger 1 of the 4 free spins features. Look out for the 3 bounty hunter wilds, as these will land 4 symbols high on the 3 middle reels (that is reels 2, 3 and 4). They will always proceed to nudge onto the full reel via the xNudge feature.

The 3 bounty hunter wild symbols depict a blonde female gunslinger, a blackhat bearded man and a sly looking indian with a shotgun. There is a progressive xNudge multiplier in play whenever these wilds nudge into place, and you basically increase the multiplier by 1 for each nudge that is needed for the wild to be fully visible. If you land more than one bounty hunter wild, the xNudge multipliers are added together once the nudging is over with. Per usual, the wilds will step in for all regular symbols.

The other feature to look forward to in the base game is the Shoot Out Feature. You need to land the sheriff star/badge symbol on both reels 1 and 5 on the same spin to trigger this feature, and it transforms all royal symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 into wild symbols. This does not mean that they become xNudge Wilds stacked wilds, however. It’s just that the low value symbols themselves will act as wilds.

Free spins in Deadwood Slot

With 4 different bonus rounds, there is plenty to cover here. You trigger the 2 first free spins features by landing the buffalo skull scatter anywhere on the reels on the same spin. You then get to choose between the Gunslinger Spins or the Hunter Spins, and either one of them gives you 8 free spins to start with. We’ll get to the mysterious 3rd and 4th bonus round right after these two, so hang on.

Deadwood
Deadwood: Free Spins Feature

Gunslinger Spins

This is the most volatile option of the two (says Extreme volatility in the game), and also where the biggest wins are possible. When you land a Bounty Hunter Wild, it activates a sticky progressive xNudge Multiplier with no upper limit. The multiplier does not reset during the feature, and it just keeps building for every single xNudge you get. This can lead to massive payouts if luck is on your side. You will also get 1 extra free spin added to your tally whenever you land a sheriff badge anywhere.

Hunter Spins

This is the less volatile option, but it still says High Volatility in the game. You are guaranteed at least 1 bounty hunter wild on each free spin here, but the xNudge multiplier will reset between each spin, which makes it a lot less likely to win massive sums here. Also here you will get an extra spin when you land 1 sheriff badge anywhere.

The Shoot Out Free Spins features

This is the big enchilada, and you can trigger this main bonus round from within the 2 other free spins features or directly from the base game. You need to land a sheriff badge on reels 1 and 5 on the same spin during the Gunslinger or the Hunter bonus rounds, or you need to land 3 scatters together with sheriff badges on reels 1 and 5 in the base game.

The feature will play out in the mode you’ve already chosen, if you trigger it from within either of the other free spins features. If you trigger it from the base game, however, you get to make a choice. Either way, you will be awarded 10 free spins to start with here, and the Sheriff badges remain sticky on reels 1 and 5 for the duration of the feature.

This means that you will trigger the Shoot Out feature on every single spin, which turns low-value royal symbols into wilds on the 3 middle reels. As you can imagine, this sets the stage for some potentially epic wins. You can opt to purchase all 4 bonus rounds depending on your jurisdiction, but you need to pay 750x for the Shoot Out free spins feature, while the 2 regular bonus rounds cost “only” 71x your stake.

How to play

It’s not all that much you need to know to get started with Deadwood slot, and this game has less options to play with than many other games out there. Simplicity is not necessarily a bad thing, and the first thing you need to decide is your bet level. The default bet level is £1, and the paytable is dynamic, which means that it will always show you how much each symbol is worth based on your chosen total stake.

The bet range is from 20p to £100, which should suit most player types, and you change your bet level via the dollar symbol icon down to the left on the screen. The 3 dots icon takes you to the options menu, and here you can turn on or off the music and sound effects. We see no reason to turn them off on this game, as both help set the mood and are pleasing to the ear.

You can click on the lightning icon below the spin button, as this increases the pace of the spins. We always prefer this option ourselves, as fast-paced gameplay is more fun. Finally, you can click the play icon also located below the spin button, and this will take you to the autoplay settings. Choose between 10 and 1,000 autospins, and set it to stop when you win or lose a certain percentage of your total bankroll.

The 200 Spins Deadwood Slot Trial

We love the smell of gunsmoke in the morning, and this is a game we have a very good feeling about. We felt almost like children again, unwrapping a christmas present, when we loaded in this game on our laptop. We did 100 autospins x2, and here is our first impression of Deadwood.

We have to say that the first hundred spins saw a lot of action between all the dead spins, but not enough to land us any real profit. This game is great at teasing you with its features, and on the very first spin we landed 2 scatters only to see the third one fireblaze out of sight with a dramatic effect. The same goes for the Shoot Out feature, as landing one sheriff star on reel 1 will highlight all the royal symbols in the middle, as the 5th reel spins with special effects and enhanced music.

We won a few smaller xNudge wins around 20x with our first 100 spins, and the Shoot Out feature landed us a 6x and 5.8x win. Nothing to write home about really, and the last 100 spins landed us nothing but small wins and dead spins. That tells you just how rough this town can be to newcomers, but things took a turn for the better when we decided to buy the 4 free spins features, one after the other.

Deadwood
Free Spins Win Screen

The Hunter free spins round gave us only a 12.5x total win, and we much prefer the more volatile Gunslinger option with sticky progressive multiplier. We landed a xNudge Wild on the very first spin, and ended up with a solid 12x multiplier in the end. Our total haul from the Gunslinger round was a decent 460x our stake.

Finally, we bought the Shoot Out bonus round opting for the volatile Gunslinger feature first. Here you’ll see plenty of action on each spin, and we ended up with a small profit of around £60 above what the feature costs. It felt like a lot more because of all the bells and whistles though, but in the end it was the Hunter Shoot Out round that really took us by surprise. It turned out to be the winner this time, with a decent £433 profit on top of the £750 feature cost.

Review Summary

It’s natural to compare Deadwood to its predecessor hit game, Tombstone, but this strapping wild west slot stands firmly on its own 2 bow-legged feet. There are some similarities when it comes to the base game features, but that’s pretty much it. The audiovisual presentation is far better in this sequel game, and also the number of paylines and the potential has been upgraded.

It can take a while to trigger the bonus rounds, but anything can literally happen when you do get them. Especially the Shoot Out free spins feature is packed with action on every spin, and the whole game just gives you the oddly satisfying feeling you might get from spinning the well-oiled chamber of a six-shooter. It cannot compete with NetEnt’s Dead or Alive 2 in terms of potential, but it’s right up there when it comes to overall gameplay and bonus features.

Pros

  • xNudge multiplier stacked wilds
  • 4 different free spins feature modes
  • High volatility and 13,950x max win potential

Cons

  • No jackpot or bonus game

If you appreciate Deadwood Slot you should also try:

Fans of the Western genre will never run out of new slots to try, but not all of them are worth your while like Deadwood certainly is. Here we shall recommend you some wild west games you will probably love if you already appreciated this one.

Dead or Alive 2 - is a masterpiece of epic proportions, and it comes with one of the biggest max win potentials you’ll find on a regular slot online. 111,111.11x your stake is up for grabs here, and you can choose between 3 different bonus rounds.

Tombstone - is the predecessor to Deadwood, and it’s hard to believe there is only 1 year between the two games. Still, if you like the sequel, it can be fun to go back to the original game and see what it has to offer too.

Wild West Gold - is Pragmatic Play’s best take on the western genre to date, and it comes with combining multiplier wilds and free spins with sticky multiplier wilds. The max win potential is a solid 10,000x your stake, and you’re in for some highly volatile wild west action here.
