Jelly stepped up to the plate with their somewhat innovative second release, Valhalla Saga: Thunder of Thor, and they’ve now taken a trip to the lost temples of Central America. What immediately pops out when you load Jade of the Jungle is the dual reel set. It’s therefore kind of disappointing when you discover that there is no real interaction between the two 3x3 grids, except for the fact that scatters count on both of them.

We like the simple visual style Jelly has come up with in Jade of the Jungle, and the soundtrack is pretty decent also. Panpipes and rhythmic drumbeats goes well together with the jungle setting, but the math model is below par. You’re not only dealing with adjustable RTP ranges, but also a lower-than-average top RTP of 95.30 %. Despite the 4 out of 5 volatility score, you can only win up to 2,976x your stake.

The wild symbol can land on all reels on both reel sets, and it steps in for all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combos. The wild holds no value of its own however, but the 3 premium symbols pay between 4 and 10 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins.

You can turn on the Super Stake feature if you wish, but this doubles your price per spin. The benefit is the opportunity to trigger an exclusive feature that’s not available in regular mode. A pay symbol is chosen when the feature triggers, and all other symbols (except for wilds) are removed. You then get 1 spin with additional chosen symbols, as well as wilds, but Super Stake does not affect the RTP.

You trigger the Bonus Round when you land 3 or 4 scatters in view, and these symbols can land on reels 1 and 3 on both reel sets. This awards 8 or 12 free spins, respectively, and each new scatter that lands progressively removes the lowest value symbol from the grid for the duration of the bonus round. You also win +1 or +2 extra spins, and the goal is to remove all but the top-tier symbol.

Review Summary

The visual style is simple, yet neatly done, in Jelly’s Jade of the Jungle, but we don’t really see the point in the dual reel set. It seems like a gimmick to attract attention more than anything, but there is no cross interaction between the two grids like we first expected. You can win up to 140x your stake from a single spin, which isn’t much, and it makes paying double for the extra Super Stake feature kind of meaningless.

The splash screen is touting a different bonus round than is actually the case in Jade of the Jungle, but we guess this will be fixed before the final release. What you get is a simple low-value symbol removal feature, and it’s mostly fun when you actually remove a significant amount of symbols. It cannot deliver more than 2,976x your stake at best however, so we have no trouble chalking this up as a mediocre release from an otherwise interesting new developer.
