Dragons and Magic slot from StakeLogic will put you in the mood for some spellbinding action, and it comes with a nice selection of features. The Super Stake bet will cost you twice the price of a normal spin, but it’s definitely worth it in our experience. The free spins feature is where the game really lifts off the ground, and carries you to new heights (literally) with the reel expansion feature. Visually, Dragons and Magic is very pleasing, but it doesn’t really offer anything truly original. What are the bonus features?

You’ll see a lot of the blinking Dragon Eye wild in this game, and it comes with a nice animation whenever it lands. It can land on any reel, and it will step in for all regular symbols to help you form winning combos. Sometimes the Dragon Eye wild will come with a multiplier value attached, and you can benefit from 2x, 5x and 10x multiplier wilds in this game. If you land 5 wilds in a combo you get a 20x payout, and if you land multiple multiplier wilds their respective multiplier values will be combined (not multiplied).

The Super Stake system is never the same for any Stakelogic game, which can be a bit confusing at times. It doubles your stake if you activate it, and you get 2 benefits for doing so. The Mystical Dragon Eye feature will trigger at random times, and turn a random amount of regular symbols into regular wilds or multiplier wilds.

There is also a Dragon Fireball feature that can trigger at random times with the Super Stake turned on. You’ll then see a bunch of fireballs hit random reel positions, and this turns all affected symbols into matching symbols. You can expect both of these Super Stake random features to be triggered on average once every 32 spins, as this is the stated hit frequency.

You can also gamble your winnings here if you wish, but you can also turn off the whole gamble feature if it bothers you too much. It’s nothing new to see here, but you can double or quadruple your winnings by guessing the correct card color or suit in a standard double or nothing fashion.

Free spins in Dragons and Magic

The glowing golden dragon egg is the scatter symbol in Dragons and Magic slot, and you need to land at least 3 anywhere on the same spin to trigger the free spins bonus round. You will get 10, 20 or 50 free spins when you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters respectively, and you’ll be introduced to 3 new and different colored dragon eggs. These eggs can land on reels 2, 3 and 4 during the free spins feature only.

Whenever you land either the green, blue or purple dragon egg, it will increase the height of the reel by 1 row. You can get up to 3 extra rows this way, and 2 dragon eggs turn all symbols on the reel into wilds. If you land 3 dragon eggs, 2 adjacent reels will turn wild. How to play

It feels kind of half-cocked and amputated to play a game at less than maximum capacity, but ultimately each player needs to decide for themselves. The 200 Spins Dragons and Magic Experience

If you have any doubt whether or not to activate the Super Stake feature, please allow us to eradicate that once and for all here. Without the 2 extra features this gave us, we would hardly have anything to write about here. More or less everything of significance that occured in our 200 spins test run, happened because of the Dragon Fireball and the Mystical Dragon Eye feature.

In fact, the Super Stake paid off from the get-go, as the Dragon Fireballs bombarded the reels on the very first spin and turned 3 symbols into dragon egg scatters. This triggered the free spins bonus round on the very first spin(!), but we won only 20.20x our stake in total with 3 of the rows extended a notch or two towards the end.

The pace of the game is decent on non-winning spins (with the Turbo switched on), but there is a very annoying pause whenever you land even the smallest of wins. We don’t really need to have every 0.5x and 1x win rubbed in our face for what seems like a 3-second eternity. This is a minor detail perhaps, but over time it can be quite annoying.

Our biggest win came from the Dragon Fireball feature, as a bunch of symbols turned into the highest value dragon symbol. The cluster of high value symbol transformation came at the exact right spot on the reels, and we landed an “insane win” of 288x our stake. We also had a smaller 24x win from the dragon symbol towards the end of our 200 spins session, but we never triggered the bonus round a second time.

Review Summary

The whole Super Stake thing is getting a bit weird with this game, as turning it off seems completely pointless. It will effectively strip away all excitement from the base game, and leave you with a hard-to-trigger bonus round. The visuals are well done here for sure, and the game has plenty of exciting moments when the 2 Super Stake features come around on a regular basis.

The expanding reels mechanic is not unheard of, and it has, in fact, been seen in plenty of other games in different variations. Still, it’s nicely done here, and it’s quite exciting to see how massive a reel setup you can build when you finally trigger the bonus round. Bigger wins can land also in the base game however, and a 10,352x max win potential is not shabby for a medium to high variance title.
