Although Swintt are a fairly active studio, we’ve been rather disappointed with their releases so far. We’re willing to give them as many chances as they need, though, so we were quite happy when we first heard about the Dragon Lair slot getting a release. Is it good enough to change our opinion about Swintt, however? Well, perhaps, but let’s kick things off by saying that the game’s playing field consists of 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 betlines.

Thematically, Dragon Lair does exactly what it says on the tin. You’ll get to visit the lair of one friendly dragon, and the slot’s graphics are quite colorful. Its symbol designs leave much to be desired, however, and things look rather amateurish in places.

The volatility of Dragon Lair is low, but you wouldn’t be able to tell that from its hit frequency, which is only 11.85%. That can make for a seriously grindy experience, but the slot’s official singular jackpot is only 500x. In other words, there’s not that much to grind for. The betting range of Dragon Lair is wide, and you can play for stakes between £0.05 and £100 per spin. As for the slot’s theoretical RTP, then, it can be 85.40%, 90.09%, 92.06%, or 95.22%. Notably, neither of those values is even average.

For high pays, there are thematic symbols that include emblems, keys, bugs, eagles, horses and dragon eggs. Dragon eggs are naturally worth the most, and they pay 50x your bet for a full combo.

In terms of specials, there are Dragon Wilds and Tower Scatters. Dragon Wilds can appear only on the middle three reels, but they work as Expanding Wilds that automatically expand to cover the entire reel upon landing.

Review Summary

Even though Dragon Lair belongs to the best slots in the Swintt catalog, it’s nonetheless far away from the industry’s cream of the crop. Its gameplay is fine, but its audiovisuals and math model lag behind too much for us to be able to recommend the entire package. Unless you’re a big fan of the Swintt style, you should look elsewhere.
